Believing in Architecture

Amazing architecture can be found in every city and the desire to develop a unique structure persists across all walks of life regardless of the time and location. Architecture provides a mirror for the society as it shows us the level of advancement the society is making regarding faith, tradition, culture, and interaction with other cultures among other things. The uniqueness of a design is inspired by the surrounding environment and the desire for the architect to develop an exit for their emotions and thoughts. Achieving such intensity of feelings is only through deep inspiration, and this is where they might spark.

How Architecture Reflects Beliefs

While each architect uses a different design process, all architectural works reflect a similar thought process used to reach the final design. Many architects are likely to use at least one of the following areas as a thinking point for their design.

  1.  Imitating Nature

Nature cannot be separated from our everyday life and presents a platform for us to develop our thought processes and designs. Nature is a treasure trove of many excellent ideas that we still try to learn and uncover today. Some modern buildings mirror their designs from nature. How architect develops and expresses their ideas inspired by nature reflects our belief and influence in architecture.

  1. Story-Driven Architecture

Architecture can be driven by the desire to share stories with the rest of the world through how buildings are designed. An architect may decide to reflect the cultural stories and beliefs through architecture. For instance, ancient traditional and or religious buildings tell the beliefs of the cultures at the time which tells the stories. One can identify the religion by just looking at the architecture.

  1. An Outlet for Emotions

Architecture can be inspired by the beliefs developed in an individual’s emotions as the architect desires to let out the emotions. Architectural projects driven by a desire to project emotions can be used to inspire belief and or change a belief. Most of the beautiful artwork we see today comes from what the artist feels at that particular time, which can also influence how we feel about a particular matter.

Conclusion

Architecture is a blend of art and design which helps develop the manifestation of belief within a particular culture or religion. architecture not only derives inspiration from beliefs but also develops new beliefs.
